Your first island routine

Lou’s Lagoon
beginner guide

Less waiting. More exploring.

Make sense of crafting, a crowded backpack, island travel and your first fishing attempts—all in one place.

Updated 11 September 2026. Based on CozyVale’s PlayStation video from 27 August. Screenshots and instructions cover PlayStation controls. Exact game version is not stated; PC keybindings may differ.

01 · Crafting

Start the queue, then keep exploring

You do not need to keep the crafting menu open while your queued items are being made. Start production before heading out, then return to check your finished items.

Refinery recipe menu with a quantity selector and yellow Craft button for Bolstered Wood.
Choose the quantity, then select Craft. Selecting a recipe alone does not start production. · CozyVale, 0:59
  1. Choose your recipe. Open the crafting station and select the item you need. Check the required materials before confirming.
  2. Set the quantity and start crafting. Use the quantity selector, then choose Craft, as shown above.
  3. Leave the menu. Once production is running, spend the wait gathering supplies or working on another nearby task.
  4. Return to the station. Check the queue and finished items before moving on to the next recipe.

A useful routine: start a needed material, handle a nearby task, then come back. You do not have to spend the entire crafting timer standing at the station.

02 · Inventory

Use the plane to make room in your backpack

Your plane also provides storage. When your backpack starts filling up, return to the plane and check its storage before throwing useful materials away.

The inventory has a bag tab and an aircraft tab above the item grid. Check which one you are viewing. · CozyVale, 3:18
  1. Stand near your plane. Open the inventory from there.
  2. Check the bag and aircraft tabs. Identify the items you want to keep with you and those you want to store.
  3. Use the storage transfer option available in your game. Read the action label before confirming; Destroy removes an item rather than storing it.
  4. Check the destination inventory. Make sure the items are in plane storage before leaving.

Keep the materials needed for your immediate task close at hand. Exact transfer shortcuts and storage capacity are not covered here, so follow the labels in your inventory rather than guessing a button.

03 · Island travel

Use Auto Pilot for return trips

Repair the radio tower on your destination island before looking for its Auto Pilot option. Once available, you can select that island on the map and confirm the trip.

Lou’s Island selected on the map with an Autopilot confirmation dialog offering Yes and No.
The map asks you to confirm the selected destination. Choose Yes to use Auto Pilot, or No to return to the map. · CozyVale, approximately 2:43
  1. Check the destination tower. Make sure its rebuilding work is complete.
  2. Open the map and select the island. On PlayStation, press × to bring up the Auto Pilot prompt.
  3. Confirm the destination. Choose Yes in the dialog shown above to travel there.

If Auto Pilot is unavailable, check your destination’s radio tower progress first. Do not assume that selecting any island automatically makes it a valid fast-travel destination.

04 · Fishing

Attract first. Reel after the bite.

Fishing has two distinct stages: move the lure to attract a fish, then change your input once it bites. These instructions use PlayStation controls.

A hooked fish pulling on the line, with the fishing meter and a left-stick Pull prompt at the bottom of the screen.
Once the fish is hooked, watch the meter and use the stick to respond to its pull. · CozyVale, 4:08
  1. Equip and cast. Select the fishing rod with the directional pad, then hold R2 to cast your line.
  2. Move the lure. Tap R2 to attract nearby fish while waiting for a bite.
  3. Switch to reeling. When a fish bites, hold R2 instead of continuing to tap.
  4. Pull against the fish. Keep reeling and move the stick opposite the fish’s pull. If it pulls away from you, pull the stick towards you while watching the meter.

Do not use the same input throughout the catch: tap while attracting, hold while reeling, and adjust the stick once the fish pulls. Watching both the fish and the meter makes the change of stage easier to follow.
